More than 80 participants are already on entry list of “Samsonas Rally Rokiškis”. Names of Lithuanian and foreign sportsmen are there. However there is one name which we are used to hear when talking about rally cross. European rally cross champion and entry of World rally cross championship Reinis Nitišs from Latvia will start in “Samsonas Rally Rokiškis as he has already turned a new page in his career.
As Reinis Nitišs says he started a career in rally not at the best time. Just after starting the rally program it was adjusted by quarantine. So plan had to be stopped. Despite of cancelled or postponed events sportsman was having workouts and was improving himself in a new discipline.
„Rally takes a lot of time. And of course we haven‘t done a lot yet so we could equally compete with experienced rivals. But we are practicing and trying to achieve best possible form.
I like rally very much yet and I can see potential to be faster in my driving. I‘ ve been driving in rally few times before. But it was just for fun. Now we have bigger goals. This year i have participated in two winter rallies. I had a crash in one and I finished another. So I don‘t have that much of experience“ – said Reinis Nitišs.
In „Samsonas Rally Rokiškis“ Reinis Nitišs will drive „Ford Fiesta“ of category „Rally 4” corresponding to previously known “R2” category. As the sportsman says it takes some time to get used to technics as previous car he drove was AWD.
“Control of our car is totally different. It is quite difficult to reorient. But we are improving step by step. Our goal in “Samsonas Rally Rokiškis” being closer to competitors whom we will meet in “Viru Rally”. That is the main task. I think that if I believe in what I do on stages everything will be fine” – Reinis Nitišs shared his thoughts.
‘Samsonas Rally Rokiškis” will be event of Lithuanian and Latvian championship as well as event of “Baltic Rally Trophy”. Competitors will manage 16 Special Stages and distance of almost 140 km.
